360 photo viewer online: view your equirectangular photo in the browser

Pick a 360 photo and it appears right here as if you were wearing a headset: drag to look around, scroll to zoom, fullscreen and virtual reality if your browser has WebXR. Nothing is uploaded: the viewer is Andarama's own engine running on your computer.

or drop it here (equirectangular JPG or PNG, 2:1 ratio)

This browser has no WebXR. Open this same page from the browser of a Meta Quest, Pico or Vision Pro headset.

The image never leaves your browser: nothing is uploaded to any server.

What a 360 photo is and why it looks wrong in a normal viewer

A 360 (equirectangular) photo is a sphere unrolled onto a 2:1 rectangle: the 360 degrees of turn along the width and the 180 degrees from top to bottom along the height. Opened in an ordinary photo viewer it looks stretched, with the floor and the sky distorted and straight lines bent into curves. A 360 viewer wraps the image back onto a sphere and puts you at the centre, so you look around as if you were there.

How to use this online 360 viewer

  1. Press “Choose a 360 photo” or drop the file onto the dotted area. It takes the JPG and PNG files produced by Insta360, Ricoh Theta, GoPro Max, Kandao, phone panorama apps or any stitching software.
  2. Drag with the mouse or a finger to turn; use the wheel or pinch to zoom in and out; with the keyboard, the arrow keys.
  3. The fullscreen button fills the monitor; the headset button starts a virtual reality session if the browser has WebXR (Meta Quest, Pico, Vision Pro with Safari or a PC with a headset).

Nothing gets uploaded

The image never travels to a server: the browser decodes it and the WebGL engine paints it on your graphics card. You can use it with private or client photos without them leaving your computer. And since there is no upload, there is no waiting either: an 8K photo opens in a couple of seconds.

View 360 photos on PC, phone and headset

This viewer works in any modern browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. On a phone you can turn the view with the gyroscope. On a VR headset, the same page offers the enter-VR button and the photo wraps the whole room.

What it doesn't do (and where to do it)

It doesn't store the photo or generate a link to share it: that would require uploading it somewhere. If you want to share a 360 photo by link, embed it on your website, connect several into a tour or add hotspots, that is what Andarama does, and you can try it free for fourteen days.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats does the viewer accept?

Equirectangular JPG and PNG files with a 2:1 ratio, which is what every 360 camera and stitching program produces. It also opens panoramas that don't cover the full 360 degrees, though there will be a black band.

Is there a size limit?

The limit is your browser's memory. 8K photos (8192×4096) open without trouble on any computer; above 16K the image is reduced automatically so the graphics card can handle it.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. Everything happens in your browser: the photo is read from disk, decoded and drawn with WebGL. We only record, without identifying you, that the tool was used.

Can I view the photo with a VR headset?

Yes, if the browser has WebXR: open this page from the browser of a Meta Quest, Pico or Vision Pro and press the headset button. On a phone without WebXR you can turn the view with the gyroscope.

How do I share a 360 photo by link?

This viewer doesn't store it. To get a link, embed it on a website or connect several photos into a tour, create an account on Andarama: the trial lasts fourteen days and asks for no card.

Want to turn it into a tour?

With Andarama you connect several 360 photos, add hotspots, quizzes and narration, and publish a link anyone can walk through from any browser or headset.
